Creativity

When we behave creatively; drawing, writing, cooking, however we choose to let it all out, we feel inside as if we are doing something worthwhile. We often feel as if we are tapped into something deeper than the day to day stuff; something that makes us feel better.

Some people find it easy to tap in than others, but we can all do it, just so long as we give ourselves the time and space (and I realise that is the tricky part).

When we act creatively, we can become engrossed in what we do, bury ourselves in it; wallow, forget the rest of the nonsense. That's as restful as a good sleep, and we have the satisfaction of the creation at the end of it.

Give yourself a chance.

If it isn't something you're used to, don't let yourself be embarrassed, just go to it. If you're not even sure what you could do, there's an easy way to find out. Picture yourself drawing, painting, writing, playing an instrument, dancing, doing stand-up, climbing, acting: build scenarios and put yourself in the middle. The one you like the look of is the one you should try. If you like the look of lots of them, you're lucky because creativity is off-ration.
